Bassam Andari is a highly accomplished media consultant with over three decades of expertise in media and communication. He joined the BBC Arabic Service in 1994 as a journalist, program maker, and radio presenter, before transitioning into senior editorial and managerial roles. He served as News Editor for BBC Arabic Radio and, in 2010, moved on to lead the Newsgathering and Planning department for BBC Arabic’s multi-platform operations for the next 13 years.
In this pivotal role, Bassam oversaw significant news coverage across radio, television, online, and digital media, steering a team of highly skilled UK-based and regional bilingual journalists reporting from high-risk areas. He gained extensive experience in establishing and managing overseas operations and developed effective communication practices between multitasking teams based on diversity, equality, excellence, and mutual respect.
